Robert E. Fuller, Jr.

Sometimes in life, God gives us tests and trials to go through...Have us end up in messes that we may be able to tell someone the message that Jesus saves and delivers. Well, I’m a living witness that Jesus saves, heals, and oh yes, He will deliver.

On January 28, 2003, which was the day I went to Tuesday night bible study, I did the usual getting down on the knees and praying and calling on the name of the Lord. I thank God for hearing His voice you see , because if I had not heard the voice of the Lord, there is no telling what would have happened. The Voice said, “Go and let the man of God lay hands on you.” Not wanting to interrupt the service I tried to go sit down and Holy Ghost compelled me even more to go up and let the Man of God lay hands on me. The scripture came to me saying, “Obedience is better than sacrifice.” Right at that moment, I went and obeyed the voice of the Lord. And at the very moment, the Holy Ghost moved in the church that night. People were blessed in ways you could not even imagine.

On January 29, 2003, the very next day, I went to work and things weren’t quite right. The machines were up for a while and then they went back down. The supervisor said, “It’s just a calibration problem. We will get it fixed in a little while.” After he said that, he sent all of the workers in the area to break and said that he would come and get us when things got up and running. I can remember at the break table everyone sitting around laughing and talking. I began to talk of last evening's events at church.

I remember Faye, a co-worker, saying the Lord knows her heart and that she was a good person. She smokes and goes out to the dance on Saturday night ,but she does not bother anybody and guesses that’s just enough and acceptable in the sight of God. I told her it takes more than that and she said she would get it together one day. Later that day, break was over and we had to go back to work. I remember having the song or songs of praise in my heart. “Can’t nobody do me like Jesus!” and “I’m a soldier in God’s army”...songs like that and I was singing and humming and moving around in my work area. I had on all the right protective equipment even down to the steel toe boots. I even had a metal glove on to keep from cutting my left hand with a sharp knife we used for cutting the rubber off the mill. I was preparing myself for the next load when, all of a sudden; a very loud noise came rushing like the wind.

Fire shot down on top me like hot boiling lava and with tremendous force carried me 30 to 40 feet through the air. It took me through a confined space that I should not have been able to pass through without being ripped to shreds! My first thoughts were of repentance and making sure I was right with God first! I really didn’t know at that particular time whether I was going to live or die! Second, I thought that a plane fell on the building seeing how we were located so close to the airport. Nevertheless, after a few moments I realized that God once again sparred my life. If not for just that moment, I had to give him praise right then in the midst of trouble.

People were scattered everywhere yelling and screaming, asking for help, some where cursing, and some were crying. I didn’t have that kind of time on my hand. I called on Jesus! There was fire all around me and smoke so thick that I could not see. There was an opening in the roof but nowhere to climb up and out. So I looked around and called Jesus again - Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! - and yelled much more. Fire began to subside and smoke began to roll back and every step I took was Jesus! From the back of the smoke and fiery filled place to the front of the place I called on the name of Jesus! Through the cursing and pleading for help I told others to call on the name of Jesus!

I told them I know it hurts and you can not see your way but call on Jesus and He will bring us out. I came out of the building seriously injured but did not feel much pain. I was excited about God bringing me out of the building. I had not thought of the serious injuries that I have obtained. I was just thankful. People looked at me funny and amazed that I was in that kind of shape and giving God the praise. I had someone to call my mother and tell her I was alright and to meet me at the hospital. I didn’t know I was in the kind of shape I was in. The last thing I remember was entering into the emergency vehicle, them telling me to lay back and that everything was going to be okay.

I spent two and one half weeks in an induced coma. I spent two months in the hospital. The Doctors said get someone ready to take him and call the family, but God said not so. The Doctors said he may not talk that much or that loud, but God said not so! The Doctors said he won’t walk without some artificial help, but God said not so! I remember one doctor saying. "You surprised all of us and I don’t know how you healed so quickly with all of the toxins in your blood." I simply replied, "It’s not my blood that’s healing me, it’s the blood of Jesus that heals me."

I don’t have any doubt that God can bring you out of any situation. Jesus saved me!!!
